“What nonsense are you spewing?” Damian demanded starring at her crossly.
“It isn’t nonsense. It’s the truth, am not your wife, we never got married and I have been to Singapore before” She admitted.
“I met Greg through a man called Marshall, he is a loan shark and Greg told me about your partial amnesia and forced me to pretend to be your wife and get you to sign this papers which will transfer all your money to him”
“And you agree to such a thing?” Damian demanded, his anger rising.
“I didn’t want to but they threaten me with Wayne and I had no choice but to do it!”
“Who’s Wayne?”
“M..my boyfriend”
“Ahh…so you even have a boyfriend and yet you kept toying with me? Was it fun?” Damian ask, feeling extremely jealous.
“It wasn’t. I felt guilty, right from the begining and I would have kept on decieving you if I hadn’t found out about Wayne’s deceit and….”
“What deceit?”
“Turns out Wayne is also with Greg and Marshall and they agree that once I get you to sign the paper, I will get all the blame and go to jail for it” She revealed.
“Do you realize that Greg is my personal assistant. Someone I trust a lot, what makes you think I will believe you and doubt him?” Damian question.
“Cause it’s the truth. Greg isn’t who you think he is and am sure that once he finds out that I reveal the whole thing to you…he will try to hurt me which is why I want to help you in sending them to jail and….” The rest of her words were left unsaid when the door to the study room burst open and Davina march into the room.
She got to where June was and gave her a slap.
“What the hell are you doing!” Damian yell, shielding June by standing in front of her.
“Am saving you from a gold digger. I knew she was lying when she said she married you and that was why, I hired a private investigator. Turns out she’s just a poor bloke who works at your company and she hasn’t even been to Singapore” Davina told her brother just as two of their security guard came in, taking hold of June.
“Let her go!” Damian yelled at them but the arrival of Martha change everything.
“If she’s an imposter then it’s only right that we kick her out” Martha told him.
“No one is going to kick anyone out without my….”
“Stop it Damian! No matter how much she’s bewitch you, she’s a liar” Davina said standing in his path but he push her away walking towards the men who held her June.
“Stop it Damian. Do not stop them from getting her out of here or I will press charges of theft on her” Martha threaten, trying to make her son see reason and that did the trick.
He stood motionless as the guards pulled June out of the mansion, throwing the things she brought along on her.
Sadly, June left the mansion and went to the apartment she shares with a friend.
“You are back from your trip” Teresa began quizzing her after June took a shower and get change.
“Wayne told me about your trip with him to the Caribbean and he said I shouldn’t expect you for a while but here you are…is everything okay?” Teresa ask and June couldn’t hold back her tears.
She cried in front of her friend, revealing everything that has happen to her for the past few days.
“I can’t believe this…Wayne is really evil” Teresa said after listening to the whole story.
“And I can’t believe you actually pretended to be Damian’s wife?” Teresa added incredulously.
“I had to. I wanted to protect Wayne but he….I don’t know what to do anymore” June said as she kept weeping.
“You said you told Damian the truth, how about you wait and see if he will reach out to you”
“I doubt that. His sister and mother found out the truth too and I don’t think he will want to see me ever again and I can kiss my job at Brooks International goodbye” June said.
“Don’t say that. If Damian Brooks is a fair man like everyone say he is, am sure he will be doing something to get back at those devils, why don’t you sleep it for tonight, lets see as things will turn out Tomorrow” Teresa told her and that thought kept June awake for the rest of the night.
She woke up to the ringing of her phone and still feeling a little drowsy, she answer without checking the caller.
“Did you rat me out to Damian!” Greg’s angry voice came down the line.
“I…I…. I ”
“You made the wrong mistake by messing with me and I will make you pay!” Greg threaten.
“And also, Wayne won’t be the only one suffering from your actions, your family too will have to pay the price” Greg added before ending the call.
June could care less about Wayne but her family…her family is what is troubling her.
She made a call to her mom but there was no answer and she did the same to her brother whose phone was switched off.
Worried, she left her house and went in search of Greg, she found out from Theresa that he isn’t at the company and so, she went to one place she knew he could be.
She had just gotten out of the taxi and was running towards the building which house Marshall and his illegal property when she saw some cops escorting Greg and Marshall into the car.
She was wondering what was happening when she saw Damian coming out of the building with the cop in charge.
He didn’t notice her since he was busy talking with the cop but when the cop left, he saw her.
