“What right do you have in trying to sell me? Am not some sort of commodity for you to sell!” She yell,kicking the back of his seat.
“Why don’t you save your fierce attitude for this buyer of yours cause am pretty sure, he’s going to enjoy every little fight you put up since he’s madly into, turns out he has been for a while now”
“And is this crazy man anyone I know?” June ask.
“Why don’t you get there and find out” as Wayne spoke, a car drove past them and when got back on the street, his focus on driving.
June began untying the rope which the fool didn’t tie properly. As soon as she was free, she untie her legs too and waited for the right time to attack him.
When Wayne made a bend, June began dragging the wheel with him.
“Stop it woman or you will get us both killed!” Wayne lash out but June kept pulling the wheel until he elbowed her on the stomach making her fall back on the seat, clutching her stomach in pain.
He stop the car and got out of it to open her door and as soon as he did that June gave him a kick in the groin and push him aside so she can leave the car.
“Get back here, June!” Wayne called, standing up in pain to go after her.
Scared to the bone, June kept running down the street while Wayne followed. He had almost caught her when she saw someone familiar.
“Damian!” She yell out his name and when he saw her, he quickly ran towards her.
By now, Wayne had scrambled back to his car to escape.
“What’s wrong?” A worried Damian ask.
“It’s Wayne…. he’s trying to sell me off to someone and I…and I escape and he…”
“Shhh….everything is going to be alright, you are safe now” he said, holding her to him.
“My family…you must protect them…Wayne is…Wayne is going to hurt….” She didn’t get to complete her sentence when she fell into Oblivion.
June woke up to find herself in an unfamiliar room, it didn’t look like a hospital and she had the feeling that she’s been in the room before.
“You are awake? How do you feel?” Damian voice intruded her thought and she force herself to sit up before asking.
“What happen?”
“You were almost kidnap by Wayne” he told her making her remember what happen.
“Did he escape? What about my family? He’s going to hurt them, I need to leave” she said trying to get up but he stop her.
“Don’t worry. Your mother and brother are both here, they’ve been staying at the guest house since yesterday”
“Yesterday?” A confuse June ask.
“You’ve been knocked out since yesterday. The doctor has check up on you and you are fine. Are you well enough to talk?” He ask and she nodded.
“Tell me what happen between you and Wayne?” He ask and she spilled the whole thing to him.
“Do you know who he was trying to sell you to?”
“I don’t but he said that the buyer is someone who knows me and that he has been wanting to have me for a long time….It was scary and…and”
“It’s okay. As long as you are here, you are safe” Damian assured, pulling her into his arms to give her a kiss on her forehead.
“But your family…they wouldn’t want me here” June said softly.
“After explaining to mom, she understand and agree to let you and your family stay for a while, I would have love to take you to my apartment but it wouldn’t be enough for your family”
“What about Davina?”
“She can go to hell for all I care. I am the senior here and whatever I want goes” he said firmly.
“That night, why were you there?” June ask, referring to night Wayne took her.
“I was actually tailing Wayne, I didn’t know he had you in the car until you came running with him chasing you. The police are looking for him, it’s just a matter of time till he’s caught” He assured.
The intrusion of the maid who came to announce the arrival of June’s mom and brother ended whatever conversation they had left.
“I was so worried when Mr Brooks told us everything. Are you okay?” Ruth Winter ask, fondling her daughter.
“I am” June reply, hugging her mom.
“Wayne better not let me see him again cause I intend to kill him” a young boy of about eighteen said and June smiled at him.
“Let’s leave Wayne punishment to the police, why don’t you give me a hug, Nathan” June said, opening her arms and he went without making a fuss.
“So I have to be sick to get a hug from you, knuckle head ” June tease, happy to be with family.
They spent some more time with her and Damian return to tell them that it’s time for June to get some rest.
“We are at the guest house, call us if you need anything” her mother said and turning to Damian, she took hold of his hand and said” Thank you for taking care of my daughter, am truly grateful”
“There’s no need to thank him when he’s going to be your son in-law soon” Nathan said.
“Nathan” June warn.
“What? It’s obvious that he’s interested in you, why else would he put you in his room and put us at the guest….arrgh!” Nathan yelp as his mother took hold of his ear and drew him out of the room.
“Don’t pay attention to what Nathan said, he likes to joke around” June said quickly but Damian said nothing and came to seat beside her on the bed.
“About your room, I can stay with my mom in the guest house and you can get to use your room back in….” The rest of her words were left unsaid as he suddenly kiss her.
Stun by the kiss, she move away from him, watching him with wide eyes.
“You shouldn’t kiss a girl without asking for her consent first…she might hate it, you know” June knew she was babbling but she had to say something to kill the silence.
