KINGSLEY π
I stood by the door of Kingston door boiling in anger.. I wish am the one having that pretty damsel all to myself and not him..
Just then, I saw myself opening the door with a gun in my hand as I headed for the door.
**
“I heard a loud cry from outside – it was definitely little Uriah, and his nanny was bringing him to his mother.
I stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
I knew Kingston was a sensitive person and that any little mistake would wake him up.
I didn't want to be the one to disturb him, especially after everything he had been through. But at the same time, I couldn't ignore the sound of Uriah's cries.
I was torn between my desire to help and my fear of upsetting Kingston.”
As I stood there, the nanny approached me with Uriah in her arm. I tucked the guΓ± on my pocket. And headed towards the door..
Just then… Kingston got up from the bed and charged towards me.
My heart raced as I fled for my life, my feet pounding the floor in a desperate bid for freedom.
I didn’t dare look back, knowing Kingston was hot on my heels, his rage and determination to catch me palpable.
The stairs blurred beneath my feet as I hurtled down them, my mind fixed on escape. With a burst of adrenaline, I launched myself out the window, glass shattering around me as I landed hard on the ground outside.
I scrambled up, my breath coming in ragged gasps, and kept running. I knew if Kingston caught up to me, it would be all over. His fury and strength would overwhelm me, and I’d be at his mercy. The thought sent a chill down my spine, fueling my flight. I had to keep running, no matter what. My life depended on it.
I got to the gate and luckily it was still open.. I ran out deep into the dark night.
BRITTANY π
“It was a peaceful morning, with the sun shining down on us as we gathered around the dining table.
Uriah was sleeping soundly on my lap, and Mrs. Lois was sitting across from me, sipping her tea. We were waiting for the others to join us, but Mr. Lois was nowhere to be seen. That was, until he came storming down the stairs, his face red with rage.
“I knew it, I always knew she was a thief and a bitch!” he fumed, his eyes blazing with accusation.
We all turned to him, wondering what was wrong. “What happened, honey?” Mrs. Lois asked, concern etched on her face.
Mr. Lois’s response left us all stunned. “Someone broke into my treasure room and stole my gold stone!”
Mrs. Lois’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Wow,” π¦ she exclaimed, clearly shocked.
I sat there, feeling confused and out of the loop. What were they talking about? What treasure room? What gold stone? I had no idea, and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on.
Mrs. Lois pressed for more information, her voice firm but calm. “How did it happen, and when did you discover it was missing?”
Mr. Lois’s anger was palpable as he took his seat, his eyes fixed on me with a suspicious glare.
"I just found out about it now, and you know that stone is worth a fortune!" he exclaimed, his voice trembling with rage.
The tension in the room was palpable, and I could feel the weight of Mr. Lois’s accusation bearing down on me….
I had no idea what he was talking about, but it was clear that he suspected me of something.
I opened my mouth to speak, to ask what was going on, but Mrs. Lois's gentle touch on my arm stopped me.
She seemed to sense my confusion and fear, and her eyes urged me to stay calm. But Mr. Lois’s words hung in the air like a challenge, and I knew I had to defend myself.
“We haven’t encountered anything like this before,” Mr. Lois muttered, his eyes still fixed on me with suspicion.
But before he could continue, Prudent appeared at the top of the stairs, a curious expression on her face.
“Mr. Lois, is this the gold stone you’re looking for?” she asked, descending the stairs with a small, glittering object held delicately in her hand.
The room fell silent as all eyes turned to Prudent,
Mr. Lois’s gaze snapped to the stone, his face transforming from anger to shock. “Where did you find it?” he demanded, his voice barely above a whisper.
Prudent’s eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a flicker of understanding there. “In Uriah’s toy box,” she replied calmly, her gaze never leaving mine.
The room erupted into chaos as Mr. Lois leapt from his seat, his face red with rage. “She’s been playing us all along!” he bellowed, his finger pointed accusingly at me.
“I didn’t take it, and I have no idea how it got into Uriah’s toy box,” I protested, my voice shaking with emotion.
I was desperate to defend myself, but I was also trying to stay calm for Uriah’s sake.
He was still sleeping peacefully in my lap, oblivious to the chaos unfolding around us.
I gazed up at Mr. Lois, pleading with him to believe me. “I swear, I had nothing to do with it.
I don't know how the stone got there," I repeated, my eyes welling up with tears.
But Mr. Lois’s expression remained unforgiving, his eyes cold and hard. “Don’t lie to me!” he thundered, his voice making Uriah stir in my arms. “You’re the only one who could have done it.
I felt a surge of fear and desperation. How could I make him see the truth? How could I convince him that I was innocent?
Mr. Lois's words hung in the air like a deadly threat, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. I felt a chill run down my spine as I gazed up at him, my heart racing with fear.
I knew I had to speak, to defend myself, but my voice caught in my throat.
“I’m telling the truth, I swear!” I finally managed to stammer, my voice barely audible. “I don’t know how the stone got into Uriah’s toy box. I didn’t take it, I didn’t even know it was missing!”
I held Uriah closer, as if shielding him from the anger and accusations. Mrs. Lois and Prudent watched in silence giving me a wired smirks of defeat.
Mrs Lois face was pale and worried.
The room was tense, the air thick with suspicion and fear. I knew I had to convince Mr. Lois of my innocence, or risk facing his wrath.
Kingston’s eyes narrowed as he strode into the room, his gaze fixed on the scene before him.
“What’s going on here?” he repeated, his voice firm and commanding.
Mr. Lois’s accusation hung in the air, his finger still pointed at me. “This lowlife of yours stole my gold stone,” he spat, his face twisted in anger.
Kingston’s eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a flicker of uncertainty there.
He knew me, knew I wouldn’t do something like that. But the doubt in his eyes was clear. “Is this true?” he asked, his voice firm but measured.
I shook my head, tears streaming down my face. “No, Kingston, I swear it’s not true! I don’t know how the stone got into Uriah’s toy box, but I didn’t take it!”
The room was silent, the only sound Uriah’s gentle snores in my arms. Kingston’s eyes searched mine, seeking the truth. I knew I had to convince him, had to make him believe me. My heart pounded in my chest as I waited for his response.
“I believe you, Rita,” Kingston said, taking Uriah from me.
But Mr. Lois was unconvinced.
. “That’s bull shit!” he yelled.
“This Rasheed slΕ«t has brainwashed you from seeing the truth, Kingston. She’s the one who stole my gold stone, and that’s final.”
“Guards.”
He called out to the guards, and instantly some numbers of securities rushed out, “Take her away! Lock her in the dungeon!” He commanded.
I struggled and kicked, but the guards were too strong. They dragged me away, ignoring my pleas and Kingston’s protests. Mr. Lois’s face was twisted in triumph, while Mrs. Lois looked on in horror.
“No, please! This is a mistake!” I cried, but my words fell on deaf ears.
I was pulled away, I saw Kingston's face, his eyes blazing with anger and determination.
“I’ll get to the bottom of this, Rita! I promise!” he shouted, but his words were lost in the distance as I was dragged deeper into the darkness of the dungeon.
The cold stone walls closed in around me, and I was thrown into a damp cell.
The door slammed shut, leaving me in darkness.
I curled up on the floor, my heart heavy with despair. How could Mr. Lois be so blind to the truth? And how could Kingston’s belief in me be so easily dismissed?
But even in the darkness, I held onto Kingston’s words.
He would uncover the truth, and I would be vindicated.
I clung to that hope, my heart beating with determination. I would not be defeated by this injustice. I would fight for my freedom, and for the truth to prevail.
I whimpers slightly… Thinking about what I have done wrong.. that the universe is so unfair to me.
WRITER’S POV π§
Kingston gave the crying Uriah to Mrs Lois.. who took him away to go feed him.
He charged at Mr Lois. Anger was written on his face.
“What did you actually want from me?” He asked.
“Now you’re talking?” He smirked.
“I need you to marry prudent,, and take over my drug warehouse.” He said.
