My heart was racing, my mind reeling with fear. Who was attacking us? And why?
As Kingston expertly maneuvered the car through the winding streets, I clung to Uriah, my eyes fixed on his tiny face.
He was so peaceful, so unaware of the danger we were in. I prayed that we would get through this, that we would make it out alive.
Suddenly, Kingston took a sharp turn, and the car screeched to a halt. We were in a dead-end alley, surrounded by high walls and no way out.
The car behind us pulled up, and a tall, menacing figure emerged, a gun trained on us.
“Kingston, what do we do?” I whispered, my voice trembling with fear.
But Kingston was already moving, his eyes locked on the figure.
“Get down, Rita,” he whispered, pushing me down below the seat. “And stay there.”
And then, with a fierce determination, he opened the door and stepped out to face our attacker.
Kingston’s eyes locked onto the figure, his gaze burning with a fierce intensity.
“Leave us alone,” he growled, his voice low and menacing.
The figure sneered, his gun trained on Kingston.
“You think you can hide from me, Kingston? You think you can protect her? You even have a guts to bring forth a new born”
Kingston didn’t flinch, his eyes never leaving the figure’s face.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe,” he said, his voice steady and firm.
And then, in a flash of movement, Kingston lunged at the figure, his fists flying.
The two men crashed to the ground, their bodies locked in a fierce struggle.
I watched in horror, my heart racing with fear. Uriah was crying, his tiny face scrunched up in distress.
I held him close, my eyes fixed on Kingston, praying that he would emerge victorious.
Suddenly, the figure’s gun went off, the sound echoing through the alley.
Kingston's body jerked, his eyes widening in pain. I screamed, my heart shattering into a million pieces.
But Kingston didn’t give up. With a fierce cry, he overpowered the figure, pinning him to the ground. And then, with a swift movement, he knocked the figure unconscious.
As Kingston stumbled back to the car, his body bleeding from a gunshot wound.
I rushed to Kingston’s side, helping him into the car.
“Oh my God, Kingston, you’re bleeding!” I exclaimed, my voice shaking with fear.
“It’s okay, Rita, I’m fine,” he gritted out, his face pale with pain.
I quickly fastened Uriah into his car seat and jumped into the driver’s seat.
“Hold on, Kingston, I’m getting us out of here!” I said, speeding away from the alley.
Well, my dad taught me how to drive a car when I turned seventeen..
As i drove, I kept glancing at Kingston, his eyes closed, his face contorted in pain.
I knew we had to get him to a hospital, fast.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we arrived at the emergency room. I helped Kingston out of the car, and we rushed inside.
The doctors and nurses swarmed around us, taking Kingston away to treat his wound. I was left alone, holding Uriah, my mind reeling with questions.
Who was that man?
Why did he attack us?
“And what did he want with Kingston?
“And who is KINGSTON?
“What kind of business is he into??
As I waited anxiously for news about Kingston’s condition, just then, some of Kingston men flooded the hospital.
“Are you okay ma’am??” Jeff asked..
“Am fine.” I replied.
“Ma’am.” Flora exclaimed and took Uriah from me.
“He’s so cute and handsome.” Some of Kingston men gushed over Uriah.
I wasn’t just in the mood for anything.. I only need KINGSTON safety.
After what felt like an eternity, doctor Alex emerged to update me on Kingston’s status.
“He’s stable, but we need to monitor him closely,” he said. “The bullet wound was superficial, but we’re concerned about potential internal injuries.”
I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that Kingston’s injuries weren’t more severe.
As I sat by his bedside, holding Uriah close, I knew our lives would never be the same We had been targeted, and I feared for our safety.
Kingston’s eyes flickered open, and he gazed at me weakly. “Rita…Uriah?” he whispered.
“We are safe, Kingston,” I replied, tears streaming down my face. “We’re all safe.”
But as he drifted off to sleep, I knew our journey was far from over. We had to uncover the truth behind the attack and ensure our family’s protection.
