“From the metropolitan police station. Levi Banks, you’re under arrest for the murder of five Legacy college students at Forte” their commander said, and Emory rushed forward.
“What do you mean murder?” She questioned.
Levi has this confident smirk on his lips as he stared at the cops.
He could kill all the six and paint this Loft with their blood right now, but what’s life without a little drama?
He’d love to see where this will lead to.
“Call the guys” he told Emory.
“I don’t have their numbers” she quickly replied.
“Get my phone from the bed upstairs, password is Noah” he told her with a straight face, and her mouth hung open.
He declined handcuffs, so he followed the cops willingly.
Till they got to the car, Emory couldn’t move from her spot, just standing there like a lifeless object while regurgitating the words he said…
PASSWORD IS NOAH.
Now that she thinks about it, how did he even know her second name when only her friends know about it?
She continued standing there, and her lips pressed on each other as she sucked in a breath.
When Levi got to the car with the cops, he looked back at her, that cruel smile on his face again.
It made her shudder, and she blinked as he got in the car which immediately rode away.
She came back to her senses that minute, rushing upstairs like he said.
He opened the door to the only room she saw and met darkness again.
She had to switch on the lights.
She easily found his phone on the bed, and she’s even surprised he uses white bedspread.
She took the phone and typed in Noah, and the phone unlocked, surprising her.
Why would he even use her second name as his phone password?
Gawd damnit, Levi. Who the hell are you?
She went to contacts and was about to search for Hyce’s when she saw her number, saved as “Little Fox” with a fox emoji in front of it.
Ok this is more than ordinary, why is he doing all of these???
She found Hyce’s line and dialled, but he didn’t pick the three rings.
He dialled Conrad’s line too, but it’s same as Hyce’s. He’s not picking.
Frustrated, she started looking for another line to dial, and she saw a number saved as Xavier.
She dialled it curiously, and the person picked almost immediately.
“Feels illegal to see you call me, son” Master X’s voice filtered in, and her eyes widened.
“I… I’m Emory, and Levi got arrested by the metropolitan cops just now” she said in a hurry and hung up quickly.
So X means Xavier? Who the hell saves their father’s lines with their names?
“FΓ»ck” she held her chest, then she saw another number, his uncle Reginald.
She decided to send him a text about the arrest, then she heard a familiar growl behind her, and she quickly turned to see the tiger.
“What the hell!” She quickly climbed the bed, rolling to the other side, but immediately she landed, she saw the tiger in front of her already, and she froze.
She was about to scream when the tiger began sniffing her, hounding her protectively.
She stood still, expecting it’s next move, but after sniffing her, the tiger just stood in front of her, and that made her fear dissipate a bit.
She looked down at it, then she slowly squatted in front of it.
She was shocked to see it has complete set of teeth.
Levi lied?
“That jerk” she muttered, but after taking a closer look, she realized the tiger’s teeth are all implants.
Some of it’s real teeth got removed with the fangs, then they were replaced with fake ones, so it’s harmless except for it’s claws, but it’s not even making any attempt to hurt her.
It must have been trained.
She raised her hand to it’s head to stroke, but the tiger walked out of the room before she could.
That kind of brought her back, and she rushed out of the room too, leaving the Loft.
She drove her way to the station.
*
STATION*
Levi was led in, and he grinded his jaws as he was made to sit in the midst of the overwhelming cops.
It’s the biggest station in this city, so the cops are much.
He sat wordlessly, looking around with a predatory glare.
How would it feel like to kill the over 50 cops in here right now and stand in the middle of their bodies?
Beautiful, he’d be sentenced to life improvement for sure, even his father won’t be able to do a thing.
The investigators opened a case file for him, and they were about to start filling it with shenanigans when their general appeared.
General McCall, Hyce’s father.
“Banks?” He leaned over to his desk.
“Hey, Mr. McCall” Levi smiled, looking humourless.
“What are you doing here?” The man frowned.
“The murder case at Forte, involving five students” a cop replied.
“No, no it can’t be. Banks is my son’s friend. Tell me how he’d be involved in that shit. Isn’t one of the top 3 students in his year?” Mr. McCall argued.
Levi almost laughed, how gullible can people be?
“He’s the leader of a frat club, sir” the cops respectfully said.
“And that gave you all the effrontery to arrest my son without a solid evidence?” Master X’s voice boomed throughout the station as he entered.
Almost all the cops stood as the man strode smoothly towards the middle table with his walking cane.
“Xavier?” General McCall drew his brows.
“Yeah, so you better think twice! Show me the evidence indicating that he killed the students” Master X sneered.
“Evidence?” General McCall faced the cops.
“We received an anonymous report” the cops replied, and he frowned again.
“Anonymous report? And you decided to arrest him without further investigation? How dare y’all!” Master X confronted loudly.
“You’re a known criminal, Xavier. It’s normal to feel suspicious towards your son” General McCall said.
“I am the criminal, not my son! It’s either you let him go now or I take action, and y’all won’t like it!” Master X fired.
From the door of the station, uncle Reginald is standing with Emory, and they’ve both been watching since the start.
They arrived at the same time actually.
“You love your son so much, Xavier. Why then are you always pretending? Why?” Uncle Reginald muttered.
Emory looked at him with mixed feelings before looking back into the station.
“Have him released, but we’ll make sure to get to the root of all these” General McCall said.
“Do anything you want, just let my son go!” Master X glared.
The release was guaranteed, and without waiting for his father, Levi stormed out of the station.
Emory and uncle Reginald quickly hid as Master X came out too, catching up with Levi outside.
“Stop right there, Levi!” He gritted, and Levi turned back sharply.
“Why did you come?”
“I was called! You could have easily handled them at the Loft, you knowingly let them bring you to create a mess and congratulations, you successfully created the mess! I lost a deal before coming here to get your arse!” Master X yelled.
“The deal you lost is much more important than your son?” Levi walked fast to him like a surreal entity.
“Yes! Everything around me is much more important than you, cursed child! My wife would still be breathing if you didn’t come alive! Your sister would still be alive devil! You ruined everything!” Master X yelled again, and Levi grinded his jaws before scoffing.
“You disgust me, Xavier” he muttered, and Master X’s hand tightened on his walking stick, unable to say a thing.
Levi knowingly bumped his shoulder on his father, and the man nearly fell as he walked away, down the road.
Master X got in his car and drove off the opposite road, then uncle Reginald and Emory came out of their hiding places, going after Levi who has gone very far on the tar.
They had to take uncle Reginald’s car, chasing till they stopped behind him and came out to block him.
“You walk pretty fast” uncle Reginald smiled, and Levi’s eyes darted to Emory who tightened her lips.
“Hyce and Conrad weren’t picking, had to call your dad and uncle” she said, but that didn’t make him stop staring at her.
She held eyes with him, and uncle Reginald had to cough to make himself visible again.
“Xavier will come around” Uncle Reginald assured.
“Not interested” Levi replied.
“You can drive with me in my car, I’ll take you back to the Loft” Emory quickly offered.
“Will you be fine?” Uncle Reginald asked immediately.
“Should be” Levi said.
“I’ll come make dinner for you guys again one of these days, and you’re invited” uncle Reginald faced Emory who smiled.
Reginald left in his car, then Emory and Levi journeyed back to her car in front of the station.
She was about to get on the driver’s seat when he snatched the key from her.
Without arguing, she got on the passenger seat, and he started the drive.
He barely drove for three minutes when questions started prickling her, and she might just die if she doesn’t ask, so she proceeded.
“Did you…kill the five students?” She asked softly.
“Your friends didn’t tell you that part?” He replied so easily.
“Why would you even kill cos of me?” She said, pinching herself hard.
“Even if it’s your parents who fuΓ§ked up, I’ll kill them without remorse. I was made to protect you, not my fault I was built differently” he replied, sparing her a glance.
Their eyes met.
“Why are you protecting me?” She muttered.
He didn’t answer that question, he just concentrated on the drive again.
This is exactly how his father was driving that day before the accident that took the life of his sister and broke his father’s leg.
He remembered vividly.
His five years old version was sitting at the car backseat with his sister, Master X was driving them to the academy where they always go to learn fighting.
He sat sadly in his black clothes without uttering a word, and his sister was trying to cheer him up by bribing him with some of her toys, but he just wasn’t having it, then his sister started crying.
“What did you do to her, Levi?” Master X looked back at them, and that was it
That little distraction made their car collide with another car…
“Levi!”
“Levi!!” Emory’s voice brought him back to the present, and he turned his head to see that he stopped the car in the middle of the road already, causing congestion.
He quickly drove off the road, and Emory won’t stop staring at him till he arrived at the Loft.
He got out of the car, and she rushed out too.
“Hey!” She quickly pulled him back by the arm.
He stayed blank, and she awkwardly bit her lip.
“Stop doing that shit in front of me” he said with a dip on his brows.
“Whatever… thanks for saving me from The Titans… A lot” she said, and a small knowing smile appeared on his pouty lips.
“Pay up” he said.
“Must you always take payment?” She made faces.
“Obviously” his lips curled.
“What do you want?” She muttered.
“Dress up in shorts and a tube top tomorrow. I wanna see you in heels, and i want your hair straightened” he said without blinking.
She did the blinking.
“Are you kidding? Me? Have you ever seen me wear all that before? Stop being…
He already cornered her before she could finish that, and she backed the car as he rested his palms on the car body, right above her head.
He had to lean down to her level cos of his excess tallness, and she had to look up, resting her palms on the car body too behind herself.
“Tomorrow” he muttered, his clean minty breath assaulting her face.
“You didn’t do that to Omar, tell me” she replied.
“Find out yourself” he poked her nose with his pointer finger, and she made faces as he left the car body, walking into the Loft without looking back.
She smiled slightly before getting back in her car, driving off.
