π« My Sexcapedes EPISODE TWENTY TWO: β£οΈ
The vehicle that I boarded was the one involved in an accident. It was one of my brotherβs cars we drove. We were five in number; all were my friends. Though I wasnβt the person driving; it was one of my friends.
The accident happened as a result of overspeeding and an attempt by the Sienna bus to overtake a vehicle from the rear.
The vehicle was moving at a speed but the driver of the Sienna bus was unaware of the velocity of the speed. He was quite near before discovering. Hence, he swerved to the side and ran into the bush.
Our vehicle behind was also closely following the path of the Sienna bus. There was no distance. As such, my friend lost control of the steering. We also ran into a nearby bush. Our vehicle pulled down two trees in the process.
But as God may have it, no life was lost, not even a scratch. Just that our vehicle was totally damaged.
We informed those at the front what happened and they had to stop and turn back. It was a very big miracle. The other Sienna bus, about two passengers died while others were injured.
My eldest uncle said that if it was in the olden days, that this accident would be interpreted as a bad omen. Therefore, the marriage would be canceled.
However, the thought that kept running through my head was Susanβs threat. Has she done her worst? If so, that means her worst was not good enough. Because the devil really came very late.
We stopped a toying van to move the vehicle back to Lagos while we continued the journey. Thank goodness we had some vacant seats in the other vehicles to fill.
We got to Ibadan successfully. Then lodged in the hotel that day against the following day.
On the D-day, we moved to my Inlaw place in a convoy.
When we arrived, as their tradition required, we were asked to wait outside under the sun. We waited patiently until we were invited in by my wifeβs family.
We moved in and sat under a canopy meant for us. Moments later, I was asked to state my intentions and as well to greet my in-laws.
After all said and done, as demanded in Yoruba culture, I moved with my friends to my In Lawβs canopy and lay flat on the ground while the women were kneeling.
Shortly after the greeting ritual, Lucy danced in with her friends. You need to see how Lucy looked so astonishing in her traditional iro and buba with gele head gear. Although she was not in uniform with me. She was not expected to wear a similar outfit with me because it was just the introduction to the real thing.
The introduction ceremony came to a success after all said and done. The ceremony was a blast β a mini wedding. The both families met and we got to know each other properly.
At the end, we went back to our hotel. We spent a night in the hotel before leaving for Lagos the following day.
By the special grace of God, we arrived in Lagos safely. Lucy came back with us as well.
Few months later, other rites were fully paid. And the proper wedding was fixed.
I went home and informed my parents. I even bought them many gifts just to know if I would buy their hearts but all to no avail.
βMy son, if the reason you bought me all these gifts is to bribe me to come for your wedding, that means you have failed and I will not come. In fact, take your gifts, I donβt need them. Go and meet those that went with you in the first place,β my father told me.
After much persuasion, my father refused to accept the gifts I bought for him. It was my mother that accepted hers. But the two still vowed never to bless my marriage, not to talk of attending my wedding.
I traveled back to Lagos very disappointed. As advised by my uncles, I went ahead with the wedding arrangements but I and Lucy kept praying and hoping that my parents’ mind would be changed one day.
One of the first people I specifically invited for my wedding was Mr and Mrs Johnson. The owner of the eatery who promised to play the major sponsorship role in my wedding. I went to his house with Lucy to hand them the invitation. They promised to fulfill their promise.
The wedding finally came and passed. It was a blast. Credit to the Johnsonβs family and my brother who assisted financially to see that the wedding was a success.
We got car from Mr and Mrs Johnson and from my brother respectively as wedding gifts.
In one blindingly beautiful whirl of love and emotion and floral arrangements the big dayβ wedding dayβ has come and gone as we have successfully recited our vows, partied the night away with loved ones. It was time for a honeymoon.
We jetted off to Dubai for our honeymoon.
We melted away the the wedding stress on our honeymoon. We returned back to Nigeria. It was a long vacation. And It was a wonderful experience to behold.
I must confess, life as a married man was totally a different ball game. It was not an easy ride. But as God may have it, things were going smoothly for us. Thank goodness I had a hardworking wife, a supportive wife and a loving wife beside me.
But after some years into the marriage, things began to fall apart. It was as if peopleβs negative predictions were coming to pass in my marriage.
