π©ββ€οΈβπ¨ Mina The Side Chick: β£οΈ
Itβs been two days since my husband traveled to Uganda for a business trip. I decided to call him today since we hadnβt spoken for a day. I tried calling him, but the number didnβt go through. I sent him a text: βHey Honey! How are you doing? Hope youβre eating well. Howβs your health now?β
I left my phone and went to prepare the children for school. Entering their room, I took out their clothes from the wardrobe and ironed them. Later, I sat beside Emmanuellaβs bed, tapped her on the waist, and called her name three times before she woke up. She looked weak and restless as she sat up in bed. Stretching her arms towards me, I lifted her. Her body felt unusually hot, even through her clothes, which worried me. Feeling her neck, I confirmed she was burning up. When I asked how she felt, she said she had a headache. I quickly got her ready for school, along with her twin brother, Emmanuel. After breakfastβwhich Emmanuella barely touched despite my encouragementβit was still only 6:30 AM, so I decided to take them to the hospital for some tests.
My husband still hadnβt responded to my texts, but I didnβt let it bother me. I took the kids to school immediately after the tests were done. Since they were already late, I dropped off Emmanuel first and kept Emmanuella with me because she wasnβt feeling well.
We returned to the hospital and received the test results: malaria. The doctor prescribed medication, which I picked up on our way home. By the time we returned, it was already 12:30 PM. I prepared food for Emmanuella, bathed her, and gave her the medicine. While she slept, I decided to check my phone. Among the many notifications, one from my friend Mirabel sent chills down my spine. I saw a missed call and text messages asking why I attended her cousinβs wedding without saying hi. Confused, I called her.
βHey Mira! How are you?β
βHey Mina, how are you doing?β
βIβm quite well, and you?β
βVery happy, my dear. But how could you come to my nephewβs wedding and not even say hi?β
βMe? No, that canβt be possible.β
βI just saw you and your husband leave my cousinβs wedding ceremony.β
βMira, are you sure of what youβre saying? Haha, because Iβm home, and my husband is in Uganda. Thereβs no way heβs in town.β
βIβ¦ But I saw your husband just now; he wasnβt far from sight. He was hand in hand with another woman I presumed to be you,β she said, sounding confused.
βIβm sure you must have seen someone else, Mira. My husband is on a business trip in Uganda, and Iβm certainly not at any wedding ceremony,β I assured her.
βOkay thenβ¦ butβ¦ I was sure I saw your husband,β she persisted.
βNo, it wasnβt me or my husband.β
βOkay, if you say so.β
She hung up, and a few minutes later, she sent a picture of my husband. It was indeed him. But what was my husband doing at a wedding event I knew nothing about? Wasnβt he supposed to be in Uganda?
