8 Years Later .
“I can’t leave!” Darren pleaded, tears streaming down his face.
“No, you can’t let him leave!” Becca exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear.
“He needs to learn to be a man,” his father sneered. “He shouldn’t be like you, Becca. You’ll only make him weak.”
“Please don’t do this, Dad!” Darren begged, his voice cracking.
“I said leave!” his father bellowed, his face red with rage.
“Why should he leave?” Becca snapped, her eyes flashing with defiance. “You can’t separate my son from me!”
Her husband slapped her, making her stumble backward. He grabbed her neck, lifting her off the ground, and began choking her.
Darren’s cries turned to wails. “Dad, please let Mom go!”
His father’s laughter sent chills down Darren’s spine. “Leave, or I’ll kill her!” he snarled, his eyes blazing with cruelty.
Becca’s face turned red as she struggled to breathe. Darren’s father tightened his grip, his eyes filled with a menacing glare.
“Dad, please!” Darren screamed, his small voice piercing the air. “You’re hurting her! Let her go!”
His father’s laughter grew louder, more maniacal. “You think I care? You think I care about anyone but myself?”
Darren knew he had to act fast. He took a step forward, his eyes locked on his father’s cruel face. “Okay, Dad. I’ll leave. Just let Mom go!”
His father’s grip on Becca’s neck loosened, and she gasped for air. Darren’s father turned to him, a sneer still twisting his face. “Good boy, Darren. You’re learning. Now go!”
Darren hesitated, his eyes fixed on his mother’s terrified face. “Mom, I’ll come back for you! I promise!”
Becca nodded, her eyes filled with tears. “Go, Darren. Go!”
Darren turned and ran, his heart heavy with fear and worry. He knew he had to find help, to save his mother from his father’s cruelty. He didn’t look back, fearing what he might see.
FLASHBACK**
Daisy sat in the backseat of the car, wearing her favorite pink dress and clutching her teddy bear. Her parents were chatting happily, their voices drifting over the sound of the radio.
“Mom, I want to be a singer like you, and a songwriter like Dad,” Daisy said.
Her mother turned around to smile at her. “You can be anything you want to be, honey, you have all the talent in the world.”she said.
Daisy smiled back at her mother, feeling a warm glow inside. She loved her parents so much, and she knew they loved her too.
There was a sudden loud pop, followed by a violent shaking of the car. Then, everything went black.
When Daisy opened her eyes again, she was disoriented. Everything was upside down. She could feel the hot blood running down her face and pooling beneath her head. She turned her head to the side and saw her parents, lying motionless in the front seat, covered in blood.
Daisy tried to speak, but she could only manage a few syllables. “Mo… da… please wake up.”
The panic and fear were overwhelming, and she knew they were trapped in the car. Smoke was filling the air, making it hard to breathe. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. She was trapped, with no way to escape.
The orphanage bus had stopped earlier due to a breakdown, but they were now back on the road. Darren, Jake, Emily, and Aunty Sara were sitting in the backseat, chatting and laughing, when suddenly a loud crash echoed through the air, followed by screeching tires and shattering glass.
Darren’s eyes widened as he looked out the window. “What was that?” he asked, his voice trembling.
Aunty Sara’s expression turned grave. “It seems there’s been an accident. Let’s stay put and wait for help to arrive.”
But Darren’s concern for the people in the car grew. “Aunty Sara, someone is still alive in there! Let’s help her!”
Aunty Sara hesitated, her expression torn with concern. “Darren, we can’t just move close to an accident scene. It’s not safe.”
But Darren persisted. “Please, Aunty Sara, we have to try! We might be able to save her!”
Sara thought for a moment, then nodded. “Okay, Darren. But we have to be careful.”
Darren, Jake, Emily, and Aunty Sara carefully exited the bus and approached the wreckage. The smell of smoke and gasoline filled the air, making their stomachs churn.
As they drew closer, they saw the car was mangled, the front seats crushed. Darren’s heart raced with fear. He spotted a small hand sticking out from the backseat window and rushed towards it.
Aunty Sara and the others followed, and they managed to free the little girl, Daisy, from the car. Her parents were trapped, unconscious and bleeding. Aunty Sara rushed over, her face pale.
“We need to call for help,” she said, pulling out her phone. “We can’t move them. It’s too dangerous.”
Darren held Daisy close, trying to comfort her as she whimpered, “Mo… da… please wake up…”
Aunty Sara quickly dialed the emergency number, and soon the sound of sirens filled the air. Darren and the others waited anxiously, watching as the paramedics rushed to the scene.
As they loaded Daisy and her parents into the ambulance, Darren felt a mix of emotions: relief that they had saved Daisy, but sorrow for the tragic fate of her parents. He held Daisy’s hand, trying to offer what little comfort he could.
Aunty Sara held Darren back. “You can’t go with them, Darren.”
“But we can’t leave the little girl alone,” Darren protested. “She’s just a child, like us.”
“They will take care of her, along with her parents,” Aunty Sara said reassuringly. “We’ve done all we can to help her.”
Darren’s eyes welled up with tears. “Please, Miss Sara, let me go with them. Please.”
Aunty Sara’s expression softened. “But you don’t know her, Darren.”
Darren’s voice cracked. “Yes, I don’t, but I’m sure she’s terrified. Please, Miss Sara.”
Aunty Sara nodded. “Okay, let’s go to the hospital using the bus.”
Darren’s face lit up with a cute smile, and they set off towards the hospital.
At the hospital, Daisy slowly opened her small, cute eyes, sitting up with a groggy gaze. She saw Darren staring at her adoringly. “Where am I?” she muttered.
“You’re at the hospital, silly,” Darren replied with a smile.
Daisy’s expression turned playful. “Who are you calling silly? I might be older than you, you know.”
Darren chuckled. “I’m 10 years old, but you don’t look 10 to me. You’re so small!”
Daisy rolled her eyes. “Yeah, yeah, that’s because I’m 8 years old, okay!”
Darren teased, “Oh, you’re the arrogant type!”
Daisy rolled her eyes again, but her expression suddenly turned serious as she remembered her parents and the accident. Tears welled up in her eyes. “Do you know where my mom and dad are, please?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Darren looked at her with a pitying gaze. The doctor entered the room, “Oh, missy, you’re awake!”
Daisy’s eyes pleaded, “Doctor, where are my parents, please?”
The doctor’s expression turned somber. “Little miss, you need to rest…”
Daisy’s voice rose, “Rest?! I can’t rest! Where are my parents? And yes, I saw that… that man after the accident. He gave them an injection. He just couldn’t get to me quickly enough. Please, doctor, tell me where my parents are!”
The doctor’s voice was gentle but firm. “I’m sorry, Daisy. We lost them.”
Daisy’s cry echoed through the room. “Noooo! This can’t happen! Please do something!”
She started removing the drip and everything attached to her body. Darren was crying silently beside her. The doctor called out, “Nurse, the sedative injection, get it quickly!”
The nurse rushed in with the injection, and the doctor administered it to Daisy. As she felt the effects, she whispered, “Mo… M…” before falling asleep.
Darren’s tears continued to flow, sharing in Daisy’s sorrow.
Darren faced the doctor, his eyes filled with concern. “Do you think she’ll be fine, doctor?”
The doctor’s expression was solemn. “I can’t say, little boy, but I pray she will be.”
Darren said . “Can’t you help her, doctor? I think doctors can do anything!”
The doctor chuckled sadly. “Why don’t you pray for her instead, little boy?”
Darren nodded slowly. “Okay, but I think it’s not just an accident, doctor.”
The doctor’s expression turned serious, but he dismissed the comment. “You’re young, don’t think too much.”
With that, he left the room, leaving Darren to gaze at Daisy with sadness and concern. Darren’s eyes lingered on her small form, his heart heavy with worry for the little girl who had just lost her parents
4 days later, Daisy sat quietly on the hospital bed, lost in thought. When Miss Sara and Darren entered the ward, she looked up. “Good afternoon, ma,” she said softly.
Miss Sara smiled. “Hi, little girl. What’s your name?”
“I’m Daisy Jones, ma,” she replied.
Miss Sara’s expression turned gentle. “Do you have any family apart from your parents, Daisy?”
Daisy shook her head negatively. “No, ma. My parents didn’t talk about anything like that.”
Miss Sara’s voice was comforting. “I’m sorry about the loss, dear. Well, I’m Miss Sara, and I own the ‘Love & Hope Orphanage.’ I want to ask you if you’d like to join our family. If you don’t, they might transfer you to another orphanage. Don’t worry, dear; you will surely continue your education.”
Daisy’s face brightened with a small smile. “Okay, ma.”
Darren smiled, relieved, and Miss Sara nodded. “Good! Welcome to Love & Hope Orphanage, Daisy.
(Verse 1)
In the garden of love, I found my way
After the storm, a brighter day
Though my heart was broken, it’s healing now
In this home of hope, I’ve found a new vow
(Chorus)
Love and hope, a shining light
Guiding me through, the dark of night
With every step, I feel alive
In this home of love, I’ll thrive
(Outro)
With new friends around, and a heart full of cheer
I’ll spread my wings, and banish all fear
In Love and Hope, I’ve found my nest
Where love will grow, and I’ll find my best.
Daisy finished singing in the garden, and Darren started clapping
“You’re a good singer, wifey!”Darren said
“Hey, who are you calling wifey? I can’t marry you!” Daisy said
“Huh, why?”Darren asked
“You’re looking too handsome and too good for my liking. I like bad boys
“Why do you like bad boys, huh?”
“Why do you keep saying ‘huh’? Well, I like bad boys because it’ll be cool, and he can save me from that evil man. I’m sure he’s still after me; I’m sure he killed my parents.”Daisy said
“I’ll protect you, wifey. I won’t let anything happen to you, I promise.”Darren said
“You’re not a bad boy.”
“I can be one for you.” (He winked at her, and Daisy blushed)
“Why should he be bad for you, Daisy?”Someone suddenly said
“Emily?”Darren muttered
“After she got here, you forgot everyone. You keep wandering around her; she’s not the only one whose parents died, you know.”Emily snapped
“I know people like you; you’re just a crazy b I T C H
“How dare you!”Emily snapped
Miss Sara walked into the garden with a woman and her daughter
“Daisy, you have a visitor.” Miss Sara said
Daisy approached then
“Who are they?”Daisy asked
“She’s your aunt,
