Isabella entered the girls’ restroom, needing to wash her hands and splash her face. She stared at her reflection in the mirror, still fuming over Elijah.
“I can’t believe I ever liked him,” she thought bitterly, hating how she’d once been blinded by his good looks. Just then, she froze when she heard the sound of quiet sobbing.
“Is someone in here?” she called out. The crying stopped for a moment, and a bathroom stall door creaked open. Valeria stepped out, her eyes swollen, mascara streaking her cheeks.
“Valeria?” Isabella said, confused. She hadn’t expected to see Valeria looking like this. But this was Briarwood, where anything could happen.
Valeria ignored her, walking to the sink to wash her face before rummaging through her purse to reapply her makeup.
“Are you okay?” Isabella couldn’t help but ask.
“So what if you caught me like this? We’re not friends,” Valeria snapped, applying lipstick with shaky hands.
“But we’re family, kind of. Your brother’s married to my sister. We’ll have to get along eventually,” Isabella replied, trying to soften the tension.
Valeria suddenly burst into laughter, startling Isabella. “Wow, Isabella wants to be the bigger person, just because she’s got three guys fighting over her!”
“What do you mean?” Isabella frowned.
“I hate this school, and I wish I didn’t have to wear this stupid crown. Everything sucks,” Valeria muttered before storming out. Isabella watched her go, more confused than ever.
“What does she mean, three guys?” she wondered aloud, furrowing her brows.

EVENING – CHANDLER’S PLACE•••
Chandler’s laughter filled the kitchen as Alejandro, donned in an apron, stood perplexed over a struggling fish.
“Your laughing isn’t helping,” Alejandro sighed, glaring at the fish.
“I just can’t believe it. I’m calling Fernando—he has to see this,” Chandler said, still chuckling as he grabbed his phone.
Fernando answered within seconds, dressed in a bathrobe and clearly fresh out of the shower.
“This better be good. I’m supposed to be going for round six with my girl,” Fernando said, a mix of irritation and amusement in his voice.
“Oh, it’s better than good,” Chandler replied, switching to the back camera to show Alejandro standing stiffly, apron on, looking thoroughly unamused.
“Don’t tell me that’s Alejandro! And what’s he doing in the kitchen? Chandler, what did you do to him?” Fernando exclaimed, eyes wide.
“You mean, what did Camila do to him? He came to me today, offering to pay if I teach him how to cook, so he can make her favorite dishes every day,” Chandler grinned as Fernando burst into laughter.
Alejandro scowled, resisting the urge to throttle them both.
“You’re so whipped, man. It’s over for you!” Fernando teased. Just then, a soft female voice cooed behind him, and a pair of slender arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“Sorry, boys, but my girl needs me for round six,” Fernando winked at them before Chandler hung up.
Turning to a still-serious Alejandro, Chandler sighed and grabbed his apron. “Alright, let’s get started,” he said, moving to assist Alejandro with preparing one of Camila’s favorite dishes.
They spent hours at Chandler’s place, and Alejandro completely lost track of time. By the time he checked the clock, it was past eleven. Camila would still be up, possibly waiting for him—and maybe even throwing a tantrum or refusing to eat, which worried him.
When he finally got home, he was surprised to find her already asleep. Guilt gnawed at him for not spending more time with her that day. Gently, he slid into bed beside her, wrapping his arms around her from behind, letting the warmth of her body lull him into sleep.
