Emma wasnβt shocked by what had happened. In fact, she found herself kissing him back. His lips were soft, and for a moment, she lost herself in the kiss, not knowing why but simply feeling.
Then, the moment shattered as a thunderous voice boomed from behind her, making her blood run cold.
βWHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOUβRE DOING?!β Chris yelled, his eyes burning with wildfire.
Emma’s heart was beating fast, and fear immediately rushed through her body. Chris was boiling with anger as he rushed toward Nathan and punched him in the face.
Nathan stumbled back but didn’t say anything. Chris was about to hit him again when Emma immediately stepped in front of Nathan.
“That’s enough!” she yelled, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance.
βYou fucking kissed him, and now youβre defending him?β Chris yelled, his voice filled with betrayal.
But Emma didnβt respond, standing firm between the two brothers.
βNathan, go,β she whispered urgently.
βButββ
βJust go,β Emma insisted, her eyes pleading. Nathan hesitated, then gave Emma one last look before facing Chris and walking away, his steps heavy with regret.
Chrisβs rage hadnβt subsided. βYou fucking kissed my brother,β he seethed.
βSo what?β Emma shot back, her voice rising in defiance.
βYouβre cheating on me!β Chris shouted, his anger blazing.
βYou were busy flirting with other girls and left me on my own!β Emma retorted, her own frustration boiling over.
Hearing this, Chrisβs anger abruptly cooled, replaced by a sly smile that sent a shiver down Emmaβs spine. βSo you were jealous,β he said, stepping closer to her and pulling her roughly by the waist.
Emma wanted to deny it, to tell him she wasnβt jealous, but the words stuck in her throat. She decided to stay silent, not wanting to make the situation worse.
βDonβt worry, baby, Iβm all yours,β Chris murmured, before kissing her on the lips. The taste of him made Emma want to throw up, but she forced herself to endure it.
After the kiss, Chris looked at Emma as if she were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. βIβll take you home, but Iβm coming back to the party. I have unfinished business,β he said, and Emma looked at him with disgust etched across her face.
The drive back to the mansion was silent. As soon as they arrived, Emma didnβt wait for him. She walked inside, eager to put as much distance between them as possible. To her surprise, she saw Leo sitting alone in the living room.
When Leo looked up, his cold blue and green eyes locked onto hers, sending a strange flutter through her stomach.
βHi,β Emma said, her voice soft.
Leo immediately looked away, standing up to head to his room.
βWait!β Emma didnβt know what came over her, but she rushed to him and grabbed his wrist. Leo, who hated being touched, pushed her away with force, and Emma stumbled, falling to the floor.
βOuch,β she whined, rubbing her sore wrist.
Leoβs eyes widened in shock. He hadnβt meant to push her that hard. βIβm sorry,β he said, and Emmaβs eyes widened in surprise. His voice it was the first time she had heard it. It was beautiful, hypnotizing, and it made her heart race.
βAre you alright?β Leo asked, his cold demeanor melting away to reveal genuine concern.
Emma couldnβt take her eyes off him. She wanted him to stay, to be close to him. βIβm hurt,β she said, pretending her injury was worse than it was.
Leo rushed toward her, lifting her in his arms in a bridal style, surprising Emma as he gently placed her on the couch.
Emma was still in shock until she felt something cold on her ankle. Leo was placing ice on it, his touch careful and tender.
She couldnβt help but smile. βSo, youβre Leo. Why do you rarely talk? Oh, I love your eyes,β Emma said, her voice light with curiosity.
Leo froze, his hands stilling. βLeo, are you okay?β she asked, noticing the sudden shift in his demeanor. His once-worried expression hardened, his cold, mysterious aura returning.
Without a word, Leo stood up and walked upstairs toward his room, leaving Emma sitting on the couch, confused and hurt by his abrupt departure.
βDid I say something wrong?β she murmured to herself, her heart heavy with uncertainty.

WESTWOOD UNIVERSITY
As Emma and Chris walked out of his car, all eyes were on them. Chris kept his hand firmly wrapped around her waist as they made their way to her class. Emma felt a wave of discomfort wash over her. Being close to Chris like this, especially in front of everyone, made her uneasy. But she knew she had no choice but to play along and be his girlfriend until he eventually tired of her. It was the only way she could ensure she made it through college.
Attending Westwood University was the worst decision she had ever made.
When they reached her class, Chris pulled her close and planted a kiss on her lips in front of everyone in the hallway. Emma forced a smile and nodded before heading into the classroom.
βBabe, donβt leave without me, okay?β Chris called after her. Emma nodded once more before stepping inside, feeling all the stares on her.
She didnβt acknowledge the looks and murmurs as she walked to her seat, pulling out a book from her bag. Before she could even open it, a girl stood in front of her desk, blocking her view. Emma looked up, recognizing the girl as one of her classmates who had previously called her a peasant.
She chose to ignore her.
βEmma, right?β the girl said, but Emma remained silent.
βBeatrice, she thinks sheβs better than us just because sheβs dating Chris,β another girl behind her said with a sneer.
βListen here, Emma,β Beatrice continued, her voice dripping with disdain. βI know youβre a scholarship student, but stay away from Chris. Heβs mine. Iβve been with him long before you came here.β
Emma finally looked up at Beatrice, her expression calm and composed. βSo, youβve been with Chris, and youβre still in your first year while heβs in his second? I guess you never passed your exams, huh?β she said with a mocking smile.
Beatriceβs face flushed red with anger as a few classmates snickered.
βYou peasant! Do you know who youβre talking to?β she yelled, but Emma remained unfazed.
βDonβt know, and donβt care,β Emma replied nonchalantly. At first, she had been afraid of talking back to these spoiled rich students, worried they might have her expelled. But now, dating Chris gave her a shield of sorts, and she wasnβt about to let anyone walk all over her.
Beatrice was about to retort when the teacher walked in, forcing her to retreat to her seat. The class began, and Emma focused on the lecture, relieved to be done with the confrontation.
As soon as class ended, Emma grabbed her bag and hurried out. She decided to find Leo, eager to give him the letter Laila had entrusted to her. But more than that, she simply wanted to see him again.
Recalling that Leo was in the art class, she asked a few students for directions to the building. She searched several rooms but found no sign of him. After what felt like an endless search, Emma was about to give up when she noticed a less noticeable building nearby.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she headed inside. As she approached one of the rooms, she finally found him. Leo was alone, painting, with his headset on. He looked like a Greek god who had descended from heaven, his hands moving with a majestic grace. The sight of him took her breath away.
There was something about Leo so intense and mysterious at the same time that captivated her. She couldnβt look away, drawn to him in a way she couldnβt quite explain.
Leo felt the presence behind him before he even turned around. When he saw that it was Chrisβs girlfriend, Emma, his expression hardened. He hated being interrupted, especially by anyone connected to Chris. Without saying a word, he removed his headset, staring coldly at her. He considered telling her to leave but decided against it. He wanted nothing to do with Chrisβs life, and she was a part of it a part that could only bring him trouble.
He removed the apron that had a bit of paint on it and walked over to the basin to wash his hands. Emma, who had been silently watching his every move, snapped out of her thoughts.
βHi,β she said, her voice soft, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Leo ignored her, grabbing his bag, his intention clear. He wanted to leave. Emma rushed to catch up with him but stopped short, remembering that Leo didnβt like being touched.
βI haveββ Emma began, but before she could finish, Leo caught sight of someone approaching the room. His expression darkened further as he recognized Laila. He despised her presence; her obsessive attention made him deeply uncomfortable.
Emma noticed Leo tense up and followed his gaze to see Laila coming their way. Panic surged through her. If Laila saw her alone with Leo, things could quickly turn messy. But beneath the panic, Emma also felt a strange irritation at the idea of Laila being near Leo.
Without warning, Leo grabbed her hand, pulling her along. He moved quickly toward a small, hidden room that was just big enough for one person a place he usually went when he needed to escape during panic attacks. He pushed Emma inside before following, gently closing the door behind them.
The space was tight, barely large enough to fit them both, but there was a small gap between them. Leo was breathing heavily, his eyes fixed on a small hole in the door as he watched Laila enter the room they had just left. Emma, shocked by the sudden turn of events, found herself smiling.
She was breathing just as hard, her body pressed close to his. She could feel the heat radiating from him, their proximity sending a strange sensation through her stomach. The tight quarters left little room for movement, but Emma found herself drawn closer to him, her body brushing against his.
Without thinking, she pressed her body against him, feeling the firmness of his chest against her. The sudden contact caused her breath to hitch, and before she could stop herself, she whispered his name, βLeo.β
Leo turned to her, his eyes wide with surprise. Emmaβs body moved instinctively, pressing even closer until she felt his growing arousal against her. A soft moan escaped her lips before she could stifle it.
Leoβs eyes widened further, and in a flash, he slapped his hand over her mouth, his gaze a mix of shock and something else something he couldnβt quite place. Emmaβs eyes widened as well, realizing what she had just done.
The closeness, the heat between them it was overwhelming. Slowly, Leoβs hand dropped from her mouth, but the tension between them only grew.
βLeo?β Lailaβs voice called out, echoing through the empty room outside. Leo panicked, desperately hoping she wouldnβt find them in there.
Emmaβs eyes were locked on Leoβs, and then they shifted to his lips. Her body seemed to move on its own, driven by a force she couldnβt control. No one had ever made her feel this way before.
Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around Leoβs neck and pressed her lips to his. Leoβs eyes widened in shock, his body stiffening at the unexpected kiss.
