Glenn woke up to find Emery still sitting up on the bed, she never slept till daybreak, it was tears and loud sobs
She pretended like she’s not concerned and picked her phone before entering the bathroom
She made sure the door is locked and put on the shower so the sound will continue to drown her words before dialling Raymond’s number
He picked immediately
“Boss hello”
“Hey Glenn, I was just about to call you cos I didn’t sleep a wink last night, how’s Emmie doing?” He asked
” She’s not doing well, she didn’t sleep throughout last night, it was tears althrough, she cried throughout yesterday too cos her face was red althrough, her face is still red even till now, she’s about to cry her eyes out… I know I suggested this game but I don’t think I can continue again, boss I can’t continue watching my friend like that, and don’t worry, I think she’ll speak up… ” Glenn said
” Exactly what I wanted to say, honestly I caught her crying in the washroom yesterday though she didn’t see me, maybe she really loves me like you said” he said

She hung up and went back into the room to change into her towel
Emery is still sitting on the bed
She entered the bathroom again and took her bath

Emery spent up to an hour in the bathroom, she did more thinking than bathing

She finally came out of the bathroom and got dressed for work absentmindedly

She wore a simple flat shoe, if she wears heels, she’d probably fall while walking as a result of much thinking
She left her hair down, no strength to tie it into the normal ponytail
She almost forgot to cream
She walked to the bus station with big thoughts on her mind, she board the bus and worse still, there’s no sit again, she has to stand throughout the ride to work
She got down at the bus stop and walked the few meters to the company

He sighed and brought out a pack of cigarettes from his chest pocket
He brought out a lighter from his trousers pocket and lightened the cigar
He puffed on it and sighed after blowing out the smoke
“It’s a chilly morning” he said
*Why did you do it? ” She asked
” Do what? ” He replied, looking at her and puffing on the cigar again
“Betray your brother” she replied
Blake looked elsewhere first before looking back at her
“Follow me” he said
She followed him behind till they got to a nearby coffee shop
They sat
“Care for coffee?” He said
She hasn’t had anything since yesterday and she feels empty
Having coffee will just aggravate things
“No” she replied
“You asked why I betrayed my brother, ion think it’s betrayal though he sees it as that… I see it as I helped him, Liz is a bitch, I just revealed that, imagine him getting married to a lady like her without knowing, it’d have been… F*ck” he said
” But there’s no way he still won’t find our she’s a bitch even after they might have gotten married” she said
” It might be too late then” he replied
” So now you don’t feel guilty? ”
He kept mute and smoked for a while
” I feel sorry, you know the person I love most in this world?, It’s him, I can’t allow anything to happen to him, he’s like all I have to look at… Since dad died and Brenda left us…

“You could have asked for an ash tray” she said
“No time… And you, I think you feel something for my brother, why was he sick the night before last night?, He was very sick and he wasn’t even able to talk, I had to turn to his doctor” he said
” He was sick? ” Emery asked, feeling much guilt

“Ion believe in that shit called love but I believe in going for what you want, it really helps, try it, pretence and lies are the two most dangerous things in the world, throw them away if you have that gift Emery, see you” he said and stood
He left hurriedly
” Pretence?, Like what I’m doing right now?, Pretending not to love him in front of him and telling lies that I don’t love him… Emery what have you done? , How do I fix this? ” She asked herself as she walked to the company
She never bothered to take the elevator or lift
She took the stairs as her punishment
Her knee and legs as a whole hurts but she endured it all for almost twenty minutes till she got up
She walked to her floor and dropped her bag on her table before going straight to the coffee machine to brew his coffee..
She took it to his office and met him on his laptop
She gulped down nothing as she dropped it on the table
She slowly walked out of the office
She worked absentmindedly and sent the old schedules to him instead of the new ones
He came out of his office
“Emery” he called with that usual voice
“Sir” she replied, getting up
“Come in” he said and went in
She went in and met him standing
She stood in front of him, head down
“What were you thinking?, You sent the old schedules” he said

” You know what?, It’s ok, I’m off to lunch with Glenn” he said and started heading out
She looked up slowly and gathered confidence
“Raymond” she called
He looked back at her and the confidence dissipated
“I’m sorry, that was a mistake” she said, hiding her tears
He looked at her for a while before grabbing the doorknob, turning it…
“Raymond” she called again
“Emery” he replied without looking back
“I LOVE YOU” she said , allowing her tears to fall
Raymond stood still, holding the knob
Right now it feels as if all his requests has just been granted

She walked closer to him and hugged him from behind, clamping her fingers tightly on his tummy, she rested her head on his back, letting her tears wet his shirt
“Please don’t leave me, and I’m sorry Raymond, sorry for lying to you about how I feel, I’m sorry sorry and I love you very much, I swear” she said still in tears
Raymond removed her hands from his tummy and faced her
He cupped her face, holding her cheeks
He stylishly wiped her tears but it kept falling
“Fool” he said with a smile
“Raymond I love you a lot” she said
“I hate you” he teased
” Tell me what to do to make you love me again” she said, searching through his eyes.
“Don’t cry anymore” he said
She tried hard to do that
” Please don’t leave me for my best friend” she pleaded again
” I’m not dating Glenn, neither am I in love with her, it has always been you since I met you, all the dramas with Glenn are just camouflage to see if you love me like I do” he said
” Really? ”
” Yes, believe me I love you dearly and I can’t trade you for anything, but lying about your feelings cos of Liz hurts, Liz is my past, it’s the two of us now cos you’re my present Emery” he said
” I love you a lot sweetheart, I’m sorry about that too, I was just childish and I’ve realized my mistakes,… ” She said
” Now look what you did to that beautiful face, it’s all red” he said, rubbing her red cheeks
” I just can’t stop the tears when I thought you won’t love me anymore” she said
” I’m sorry for pulling that kind of stunt with Glenn too” he said
” No I should be the one saying sorry” she replied
” I love you Emmie, a lot” he said
” Love you more honey” she replied
He instantly hugged her tightly, feeling her chest, and a lot of happiness deep inside him
She feels on top of the world with being in his arms too
He broke it after almost three minutes and they stared at each other for so long, smiling as they did
Her eyes shifted to the lips she missed a lot and so is he, he can’t stop staring at her lips
They both brought their faces closer and their lips met between the line, crashing on each other with full force
He made her back the door so his hands can take full possession of her hips as they kissed affectionately..
