“I thought long and hard about it on my way back and it’s the only thing I can do to get Fiona her heart” Ashton said, trying to make her see reason.
“But you don’t have to sacrifice yourself for Fiona. We will find another donor or….”
“Exactly when should we find a donor? Time is running out and shouldn’t you be glad that I’m doing this. It will keep me out of your life for good” Ashton said and she stood up, pacing around the room.
“I don’t want you sacrificing yourself for Fiona. There must be something we can do other than your marriage to Sandy” Stephanie said.
“There are no other possibilities. I thought hard about it and have come to this decision. If you call it being coward, I call it doing my best for my daughter” Ashton said, wheeling himself away while Stephanie stand alone feeling dejected since there’s nothing she can do to change the situation.
<< TWO DAYS LATER >>
It’s been two days since Susan has heard from Stanley.
At first, she didn’t want to call him after what happen in her apartment that day but when two days passed by without a call or message from him, she decided to look for him.
And her search led her back to his hometown.
Susan park her car in front of a black gate, she walk in through the gate to the front door where she knock twice before a lady which susan guess her age to be in the early twenties and aside from that the lady is very beautiful.
“Who are you?” On hearing that voice Susan knew she has heard it from somewhere but couldn’t remember.
“I am Susan, a friend of Stanley. Is he in?” Susan ask.
“I’m afraid he isn’t. He went out to get something for his mom but you might as well come in” the lady said opening the door for her.
“Who is at the door Ashley?” Another lady appeared, she looked about sixty and from the resemblance, Susan can tell that she’s Stanley mom but what caught her attention most is the name the older lady called the younger one.
If she’s Ashley then she is the one who called Stanley two days ago.
“She claims to be Susan, a friend of Stanley” Ashley said, eyeing Susan.
“Susan you say? Can you do me a favour, Ashley?” The older lady began, forcing a smile at Susan.
“Can you leave Susan and I alone. I have somethings to say to her”
When Ashley left, the older lady offered Susan a seat in the little sitting room.
“I’m glad you are here, Susan” Stanley mom begin.
“Do you know me?”
“I do. Not that Stanley has talked about you, I just happen to find out by chance”
“If you know about me then you must also know that….”
“That you are dating my son? I know all about it. I wondered why he refuse to come home to get married and it turns out that it’s because of you”
“You must know that you are way older than him. If he foolishly claims to be in love with you then you as an adult should have use your adult head to deal with the situation” Stanley’s mother said, her face tightening in anger.
“I don’t blame women like you who try to cool their blood with that of young ones but don’t expect me to turn a blind eye when this matter concerns my son”
“I have no intention of hurting Stanley” Susan said softly.
“But you are! You will hurt him if you keep going around with him, you might even end up ruining his life. He is too young for you and he’s got a fiancee who will marry him in two weeks time”
“Two weeks?”
“Yes! Two weeks. My son is marrying his long time fiancee, so do me a favour and leave him alone” Stanley mother told her.
“You are too old for him, try looking around. You will find someone fitting for your age. My son is a big no”
With that said, Susan left the house, heading to her car.
She was about to get into the car when Stanley arrive.
He was some distance away from her and judging by the look on his face, he wasn’t expecting her to be here.
Without saying a word to him, she got into the car and drive off, ignoring Stanley’s call.
<< BOUTIQUE >>
“How are things going with you?” Sandy ask Bobby on the phone as two female attendant help her button up the dress she intends to buy.
“Bad. I haven’t been able to cremate Bianca’s body and that’s because I need to get authorization from Brenda”
“Still on that issue? Do you need my help?” Sandy ask.
“No. I can take care of it myself just keep on with what you are doing” Bobby told her.
“Fine then but make sure to be on time tomorrow, you know you are one of my witness” Sandy remind him.
“I know and I won’t be late” Bobby reply, hanging up the phone.
“The dress fits you perfectly, miss” one of the attendant said.
“Really? Let me hear what he has to say about it” Sandy said, walking out of the changing room to show her dress to someone.
Ashton was seated in the waiting room when Sandy came out.
“What do you think?” Sandy ask, twirling around in the gown she intends to wear at her court wedding tomorrow.
“Good” Ashton said, not bothering to look at her.
His gaze remain fixed on the magazine he was reading.
Sandy let out a sigh and wave out the attendant before walking towards Ashton.
“We are getting married tomorrow. Shouldn’t you at least act like a happy groom?” Sandy ask.
“Happy groom? You can’t expect me to be happy under the circumstance. You know I only agreed to marry you for one thing which is my daughter”
“I know. You’ve been telling me that ever since you agree to my demands two days ago but that doesn’t change the fact that I still call the shots. You wouldn’t want me backing out of this, right?”
“For how long will you keep up with this threat?” Ashton ask.
“For as long as I can ”
“Fine then. I will try to act like the happy groom. Now, go get change so we can leave?” Ashton said, getting out of his seat when she would have kiss him.
He was limping to the door when she said.
“Our marriage will be a real one Ashton and there’s no going back”
He didn’t even bother to reply instead, he walk out of the boutique while waiting for her in the car.
