I began to search for Benny and when I couldn’t find him anywhere. I sent him a text asking him where he was, and the next second I got a reply from him.

I put my phone back inside my purse after receiving the text from him then felt a presence in front of me and I look up. I saw him, it’s the second time I’ve seen him after we exchanged contacts at the beach shop.

“Hi,” I smile back. I don’t know why I was starting to feel nervous, I played with my purse not knowing what to do next.
“Uhm, you want to meet my friends?” He asked and I nodded. I felt something warm on my hands and I looked down to see Ben’s fingers intertwined with mine.
I don’t know how to feel about this, we are holding hands with fingers interlocked, and from what I know, only couples do this so does this mean we are a couple?
I smile at the question I asked myself. Ben is handsome so it’s not bad he’s my first boyfriend. I let him hold my hands as we go to see his friends.
“Benny, there you are, we were about to play a game without you” The moment we got to the table where Benny said his friends were, a girl ran to Benny and grabbed his shirt but then noticed me.
I see the questioning look in her eyes. She must be wondering who I am or what I am to Benny that we are interlocking hands. I also don’t get why Benny is holding me thou.
“Oh this is Dove, Dove these are my friends. This is Lucy” Benny introduced me to Lucy but Lucy didn’t give me a welcoming look, I don’t know if it’s just me.
“And these are my other pals, this is Logan” he points to a handsome guy who just gave me a salute greeting. “This is Jake” Jake is a black dude with dreads who only responds by nodding and I wave.
“Daisy and Abby” He introduced the other two guys except for Lucy and unlike her, their smile was friendly.
“So are you two like dating?” Abby’s hands were on our interlocked hands as she asked. I quickly pulled my hands out and none of us were allowed to answer because once again, 𝙇𝙪𝙘𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙨.
“How can you ask that, she’s not Benny’s type of girl, she looks too good for him”
“Lucy!” Benny calls immediately.
I gulped. I never thought being the good girl was a bad thing till I turned back to Austin TX four years later. It makes sense Derek is not who I know anymore.
Wait, Derek has a girlfriend now and I shouldn’t bring him into this, I’m moving on and I’m with Benny now. Wait can I even hear myself, we just held hands and I’m already assuming we are a couple, apparently I’m too good for him.
“Come on, don’t take offense to what Lucy said. Let’s sit” Benny whispered to me and brought me back to earth. I only nodded and took the space beside him.
“So what game are we playing?” Benny ask.
“Never have I ever. We are going with dirty questions and the first person to get drunk will be crowned as the dirtiest person in our most” Abby said.
“Up for it” Jake winked and I only gulped my saliva. Pretty sure I’d be going home with the crown of the cleanest person here tonight.
A cup of beer was given to us. It’s my first time holding a glass, I don’t know why I feel like I’m starting to get matured.
“Never have I ever made out with a stranger on a random night,” Abby asked first and everyone drank from their cup including Benny. I only flashed a smile when their eyes turned to me.
“Never have I ever gotten fingered in the classroom when classes are going on?” Daisy asked and the three girls drank including Logan.
When all eyes turn to him, he defends himself saying; “I might not have gotten fingered in the classroom but I did finger a few people”
My cheeks were hot. How are they so comfortable doing this and is this how inexperienced I am?
“Never have I ever fucked in a public toilet,” Jake asked and everyone except me drink their beer everyone including Benny. Maybe Lucy is right, Benny isn’t really for me.

“I think I should go” I stand from the chair.
“You should leave and stay away from Benny, the only girl he needs in his life is me. You can never give him what I gave him so leave and never come back!!” She shouted and me and drank more beer from her cup.
“Lucy you’ve said enough!” Benny angrily cautioned her but when he turned in my direction, he couldn’t find me cause I ran out.
“Fuck” he mumbles and chases after me.
“Dove wait, I’m sorry” he calls when he gets out.
“You didn’t do anything Ben, I just wanna go home, ” I tell him.
“You’re not mad?” He asks.
“At what?”
“At everything, the whole game and the dirty things I’ve done,” he says.
“I’m not, why would I be, I mean we aren’t even a couple” I shrug.
“We aren’t?” He asks like he’s confused with what I said earlier.
“Are we?” I ask and he doesn’t reply. I chuckle to myself. “I think you should go take care of Lucy, she misses you” I forced a smile hoping I’d disappear and luckily I found a cab.
I enter inside and rest my head at the back of the chair. Coming to this party was a bad idea.
